We have developed a clean, atom-economical and environmentally friendly route for acceptorless dehydrogenation of amines to nitriles by combining a new dual N-heterocyclic carbene-nitrogen-phosphine ligand R(CNP)(2) (R = o-xylyl) with a ruthenium precursor [RuCl2(eta(6)-C6H6)](2). In this system, the electronic and steric factors of amines had a negligible influence on the reaction and a broad range of functional groups were well tolerated. All of the investigated amines could be converted to nitriles in good yield of up to 99% with excellent selectivity. Robust and recoverable dual cross-linking networks in pressure-sensitive adhesives

Pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) demand the ability to simultaneously improve toughness and adhesion. However, these requirements of PSAs have remained a great challenge because robust and recoverable characteristics are usually contradictory properties of PSAs. Dual cross-linking networks developed by incorporating dynamic noncovalent bonds into chemical cross-linking networks have the potential to mitigate these requirements in a wide variety of applications including adhesives, hydrogels, and elastomers. Herein, a facile approach to achieve dual cross-linking networks of acrylic PSAs with excellent mechanical properties and high-adhesive performance that integrate physically cross-linked networks into chemically cross-linked networks is proposed. Diurethane acrylic monomer-pentaerythritol ethoxylate (DAM-PEEL) groups were introduced into the acrylic PSA system through photopolymerization. The PSA/DAM-PEEL dual cross-linking networks led to the development of the chemically cross-linked networks for both PSA and DAM via covalent bonds and the physically cross-linked networks between the amide groups of DAM and the hydroxyl groups of PEEL via hydrogen bonds. Consequently, the PSA/DAM-PEEL dual cross-linking networks were able to simultaneously improve the modulus and stretchability. This design strategy for developing dual cross-linking networks of materials could offer potential applications for various adhesive-related applications.

This result demonstrates that the polypyrrolinone scaffold can be employed in the construction of bioactive peptide hybrid ligands, thus considerably expanding the scope and utility of the pyrrolinone scaffold.

Rapid scan spectra have higher bandwidth than CW spectra and therefore require higher detection bandwidths at faster scan rates. However, when the scan rate is increased by increasing the scan frequency, the increase in noise from the detection bandwidth is compensated by the decrease in noise due to increased number of averages per unit time. Because of the higher signal bandwidth, lower resonator Q is needed for rapid scan than for CW, so the rapid scan method is advantageous for lossy samples that inherently lower resonator Q. Targeted development of hydrophilic porous polysulfonamide gels with catalytic activity

We report the use of a template and functional monomers in the synthesis of three novel polysulfonamide gels with new architectures and functional groups. These mesoporous polysulfonamide gels were prepared by the condensation polymerization of benzene-1,3-disulfonyl chloride (as the main precursor), linear monomers, and cross-linkers (as variable precursors) in the presence of a silica template by a combination of sol-gel chemistry and the nanocasting technique. In this synthesis pathway, in situ polymerization onto the template surface led to the construction of a silica/polymer nanocomposite. Next, after removal of the template, the nanocomposite gels were transformed into mesoporous polysulfonamide nanospheres. After the physicochemical identification of the synthesized materials, functionalized polysulfonamides were used as reusable novel catalysts with high efficiency for the Strecker reaction under mild conditions. These polymers have Brunsted/Lewis acid active sites, a mesoporous structure, and hydrogen bonding. Moreover, since these polymers are hydmgels that can absorb water, they can promote the Strecker reaction through chemical absorption of the generated water as a driving force. Overall, this article describes a novel synthesis procedure and application of porous polysulfonamide gels.
